Mark Schlueter, CFA
Managing Partner, Portfolio Manager - Relative Value
Mark is a Managing Partner and Portfolio Manager for the relative value strategies. Prior to founding Sagefield Capital, he spent seven years as a Portfolio Manager at Citadel, a $30 billion multi-strategy hedge fund, managing over $2 billion in assets and leading a six-person investment team. At Citadel, Mark managed the same strategy employed at Sagefield, a market-neutral, relative value strategy in natural resources and utilities equities. Prior to Citadel, Mark was a Senior Analyst for six years at Walker Smith Capital, a long/short equity hedge fund with over $1 billion in assets, covering energy, utilities, and materials. He previously worked at Enron on the internal hedge fund investment team and at PriceWaterhouse. Mark holds an MBA and BA with high honors in Plan II and Economics from the University of Texas at Austin. He serves on the advisory board for SMU’s student-managed Spindletop Fund and is an executive board member of Capital for Kids.

Jonathan Lamensdorf, CFA
Managing Partner, Portfolio Manager - Event-Driven
Jonathan is a Managing Partner and Portfolio Manager for the event-driven strategies. Prior to founding Sagefield, he spent 10 years as a Portfolio Manager at Highland Capital, an alternative asset management firm with over $10 billion in assets, where he managed a six-person investment team. At Highland, Jonathan managed both the Highland Merger Arbitrage Fund and the Highland Long/Short Equity Fund, with assets of over $1 billion. Prior to Highland, Jonathan was a Senior Analyst for five years at Walker Smith Capital, a long/short equity hedge fund with over $1 billion in assets, where he had a generalist focus. He previously worked for five years as a Senior Analyst for Acharne Capital (a Soros Fund Management affiliate), Rhombus Capital, and Precept Capital. He began his career in equity trading at Merrill Lynch and in equity research at Lehman Brothers. Jonathan holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BBA in Finance with highest honors from the University of Texas at Austin. He currently serves on the board of trustees for the Lamplighter School.

Kyle Gavin
Director of Research
Kyle is a Director of Research for the relative value investment strategy. Prior to joining Sagefield Capital, Kyle was a senior partner and Director of Research at Socorro Asset Management. From 2011 to 2016, he was a portfolio manager for Citadel where he managed a $1.5 billion+ portfolio and a team of analysts. Kyle began his buyside career at S.A.C. Capital where he spent six years as a senior analyst as a generalist and then as a co-portfolio manager of an energy / basic materials portfolio. Kyle started his career as an energy investment banker with Morgan Stanley. He received a BA in Finance and Economics from the University of Oklahoma and an MBA from the Owen School of Business at Vanderbilt University.

Will Green
Senior Analyst - Relative Value
Will is a Senior Analyst on the relative value investment team. Prior to Sagefield Capital, Will spent over 10 years at Stephens, a regional investment banking firm, where he was a Managing Director in Equity Research covering the exploration and production sector. Prior to that, he spent several years covering the building materials sector. Previous to that, he began his career in computer programming at Dillard’s. Will holds a BA in Computer Science and Psychology from the University of Arkansas.

William James, CFA
Senior Analyst - Relative Value
William is a Senior Analyst on the relative value investment team. Prior to Sagefield Capital, William spent three years as a Senior Analyst at Citadel, a $30 billion multi-strategy hedge fund. At Citadel, he was a member of Mark Schlueter’s investment team, generating ideas for the overall portfolio as well as running $150 million in autonomous capital for the portfolio. Prior to Citadel, he was a materials, industrials, and MLP analyst with Cushing Asset Management, Allianz Global Investors and Partner Fund Management. William began his career as an investment banking analyst in JP Morgan’s natural resources group. He holds a BS in Business Administration and Accounting magna cum laude from Washington and Lee University.

Chris Sipple, CFA
Senior Analyst - Relative Value
Chris is a Senior Analyst on the relative value investment team. Prior to Sagefield Capital, Chris was a Senior Analyst at SRC Capital, a Dallas-based long-short equity fund manager, covering multiple sectors, including technology and consumer. Prior to SRC, Chris was a Founding Partner and Senior Analyst at Blue Lion Capital, focusing on the consumer, technology, and industrial sectors. Chris began his career at Precept Capital, a Dallas-based long-short equity fund manager, covering the technology, consumer and business services industries. Chris holds a BS in Computer Science and a BBA in Finance from Texas Christian University.

Will Chavey
Senior Analyst - Relative Value
Will is a Senior Analyst on the relative value investment team. Prior to Sagefield Capital, Will spent three years as a Senior Analyst at Viking, a $30 billion firm across its long-short and long-only public equity offerings, where he was responsible for identifying, researching, and communicating ideas in the industrials sector. Prior to Viking, he worked at CarDash (now Stress Free Auto Care), a Y-Combinator backed startup focused on the auto repair space. Will began his career as a Strategy and Corporate Development Associate at Santander Consumer, USA. He holds a BA in Economics, summa cum laude, from University of Dallas and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
